INTRODUCTION
The client is a cardiologist and they will be opening a new office. It will be a high end office with a spa like feeling with great attention to patient service. The focus is on cardiovascular prevention and that is the reason for the word wellness. The logo should have a caring feeling to it and it also needs to have fluency and serenity. The target audience is patients with established problems and those who want to prevent it.
The logo design is to be a maximum of 3 colors with blue, red and a third undecided color. The name of the practice is essential, especially the word wellness. They would like a heart shape combined with a human figure that transmits a healing message. The key to the logo is to convince the potential client that it is about healing cardiovascular illness and preventing it.
CLIENT NAME: CARDIOVASCULAR
Final Selection
THE DESIGN PROCESS
The first thing that happens when we receive a new business logo design order is to get all our design team together for a brain storming meeting and start shooting ideas. There are a minimum of 3 designers per project. Some clients feel that having one designer working on a project is better for the overall feel of the logo but projects can have more or less designers depending on the client. The designers will have a meeting and each logo designer will come up with design concepts to be worked upon by the group. This is also when they may ask the client for additional information. This is the creative stage and leads to the design of unique concepts.
INITIAL CONCEPTS
By day three the designers will be sending out the initial concepts of the company logo design. These designs are presented to another designer (team leader of another business logo design project) for inspection and approval. The selected logo designs are then provided to the client for viewing and they can provide any revision instructions for each of the designs.

In the email we send to the client with the initial concepts we also explain about the colors used by our design teams as we do not use RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color palette but instead the professional Pantone color palette.
The RGB color scheme is used on TV's, computer monitors and home/office printers. The Pantone color scheme is the industry standard and all professional printers use this color scheme as it has greater variety of pre-mixed colors for a consistent corporate look.
We also direct the client to available Fonts from the online library at Adobe (we stock most of the Adobe fonts). Here the client can choose a font which appeals to them.
CLIENTS RESPONSE
The client takes as long as they need to review the designs and think of any revisions they feel are necessary. When they are ready to move forward the client will provide us the instructions to carry out.
The client replied with the comment:
The file for the selected design is the first one.
1- I would like the heart shape in blue to be the same color as the fonts in blue but slightly lighter.
2- Same will apply to the heart shape in red and the human figure.
3- I would like to add dimensionality to both the heart shapes and the human figure to have a 3D look.
4- I would like to have the first 2-3 letters of the word cardiovascular fade in terms of the opacity.
5- I also like to see two versions of the final design with the heart shapes closed on the left and open.
6- The position of the heart shapes and human figure should be same as in the sample.
Regards”
The client decided to retain the base layout of the logo design and refine the image to see what the design team can come up with. The client’s comments are passed on to the design team and they begin implementing the client’s instructions.
We aim to have the revised design/s back with the client in 3 business days.
1ST SET OF REVISIONS
These are the designs which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide which design/s they would like move forward with:
Concept 5A |
Concept 5B |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“Thanks for your reply.
I would like to proceed with 5A and have the following changes applied to it:
1- Have the red color on a lighter shade, can use R-192, G-42, B-35.
2- The lower limb of the figure (the free limb) shorter and at a different angle.
3- Would like to see a version without the 3D look, just the flat graphic.
Thanks”
Once again the designs are passed back to our design team who implement the client’s request. The length of the design process depends entirely upon the number of revision rounds requested by the client. Each revision round can take up to 3 days for the designs to be sent back to the client.
2ND SET OF REVISIONS
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept 5A.1 |
Concept 5A.2 |
Concept 5A.3 |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“I would like the final version to look exactly as 5A.1 but with the following changes:
1- Shrink the heart/human shape only in the X axis so the letter C would not be so far apart from the inner edge of the blue heart.
2- Make the head of the human figure coincide with the letter I so it looks as if it were the dot on the I.
3- Move the free arm of the human figure to the right a few dots to make more space for the head. Also decrease the size slightly in a proportional fashion
4- Make the free leg of the human figure smaller and rotate it counter clockwise.
6- Open the heart shapes to the left using a rectangular marquee and a small feather (to have a smoother transition) exactly the height of the Letter C.
5- Something I would like that is not in the design is to have two versions , one with the same red color , and a second on a lighter shade of red.
If you could make this adjustment I think this will be my final version.”
Once again the designs are passed back to our design team who implement the client’s request. The length of the design process depends entirely upon the number of revision rounds requested by the client. Each revision round can take up to 3 days for the designs to be sent back to the client.
3RD SET OF REVISIONS
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept 5A.4 |
Concept 5A.5 |
Concept 5A.6 |
Concept 5A.7 |
Concept 5A.8 |
Concept 5A.9 |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“Hi.
I would like to go with the first design as my logo.”
FINAL PACK
The final pack is sent out to the client in a day or so. The final files are sent to the client as a .zip file.
The final pack includes all the relevant file types needed for Home/office printing and web use. To see a list of available file types please visit:
http://thelogocompany.net/logo-design-file-formats.htm
We can also create specific file types for clients if requested and if possible.
At this stage we introduce our client to the wide variety of services available to our customers. These services include (and are not limited to) stationary design, web site design, flyers, brochures, postcards and we can even design data sheets and web banners.
We create our designs using Adobe Illustrator the industry standard. If a client would like to edit the logo themselves they would require this software. We are always on hand though to make changes later if required for a small fee. |
