Client Name: Duracell - Top Ten

Final Selection

The First Step

The first stage of the process is to complete our online order form. This form is carefully constructed to extract just the right information from you to give our design team the best possible start on the way to creating your dream logo.  The form invites you to offer as much instruction as you wish to the design team to aid their creative flair. You may suggest colors, fonts or styles for your logo and point us to existing logos you like in our portfolio or elsewhere.

To compliment your order form you are invited to send us any supporting files via email or even send us a sketch via fax to give our designers some extra direction.

Understanding the Client

One of the most important features of the order form is the client’s company description. We pride ourselves on understanding the clients business and therefore assembling a clear picture of their needs.

Here are some key points lifted from the Duracell- Top Ten Order Form:

Company Description:  Duracell Inc. - Consumer Battery Manufacturer

Target Audience:  From R&D to Business Management.

Product Desired - Other:  Logo for an internal company process to provide a structured problem solving approach to address critical issues

The company description here is less important than usual as Duracell is a global company and we are all aware of their values. The design team will note keywords that will be associated with this company and therefore project:

Reliable
Strong
Dependable
Value

More important here is the target audience and product desired. This logo needs to represent a problem solving team and be showcased to management personnel. This triggers and new strain of key values:

Decisive
Clinical
Assured
Pro-Active
Positive

The client has also stated the fact that they do not want to see any numerical number 10’s in the design.

Initial Concepts

Your completed order form and any additional material you may have sent is passed to our design Lead Creative. The Lead Creative will then assign your project to a pool of designers (we always use a pool of designers to maximize creative input) to review all the information taking into account the type of company we are designing for and suggest a creative strategy. Our vast experience in designing successful logos for such a range of  businesses gives us a great advantage at this juncture.

The design team will then create a range of concepts. These concepts are then reviewed by the Lead Creative who will select the most promising designs (minimum of 3) to send to the client.

Concept 1

Concept 2

Concept 3

Concept 4

At this stage the client can really get involved in the project. Now the client has some designs to view it often gives them a clearer picture of their ideal logo.

After viewing these initial concepts the onus is then on the client to offer their feedback and suggest how to move forward with the project. The feedback from this client was as follows:

Thanks for the initial designs. My team selected couple of your designs we feel might have a potential.

Design 1 & 4
Instructions:
1. Try to create the sense of urgency through the design
2. Try several variations with a fire to represent urgency

What happens if the client doesn’t like any of the designs?

This does not happen often but it does happen. Even on this rare eventuality the initial concepts can prove to have a positive effect. They often give the client a clearer picture about the style of logo they are looking for. We ask the client to be as suggestive as they can in how to move forward with the project. At our end we add some extra designers to the pool for some fresh creative input. Armed with this new direction and focus the design team will produce a new set of concepts for the client.

First Revision Round

The design team will review the client’s feedback from the initial concepts and begin to revise the designs accordingly.

Above are the results of the first revision round. These designs are sent to the client for viewing to pick a design or suggest further revisions if necessary.

We offer UNLIMITED free revisions enabling the client to fine tune the design to perfection.

At this point the client had this to say:

We are happy with design 1. I would ask that you shrink the design horizontally by 75% and then we are done.

The design team will now apply the finishing touches to the design and prepare the clients final pack.

Final Pack

Once the client is 100% satisfied with their new business logo we will send the final pack. The final pack contains your new logo in several different high resolution file types for a variety of uses.
