Introduction
Miller Massage Therapy is a massage therapy business. They offer Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, tandem massage, chair massage, Reiki, CranioSacral therapy and outcalls. Most of their clients come in for relaxation, overall health, well-being and receiving on a more spiritual level. They have clients who go to them for work on physical conditions though they soon discover that there is much more to receiving a massage and bodywork than just working on the body. They have a warm, relaxing atmosphere in their office.
Their target audience are men and women of all ages and professions.
The logo design needs to be illustrative, colors to be used were specified Purple, yellow, gold, blue, green, pink , white - Purple for sure, other colors are suggestions but no red or black.
Client Name: Miller Massage Therapy
Final Selection
The Design Process
The first thing to happen when we receive a new logo order is we get all of our design team together for a brain storming session to discuss ideas. This is where the designers will come up with lots of different ideas using the information provided on the order form. Once a team of designers for the project has been assigned, the designers begin creating their concepts. There are a minimum of 3 designers per project but the number can vary as some clients feel that having one designer is best and others believe “2 heads are better than one”. This is also the point when the designers may ask the client for additional information, which can be an image or even a sketch or doodle. This is the creative stage and leads to the creation of unique concepts.
Initial Concepts
By day three the designers will be sending out the initial concepts of the logo design. These designs are presented to another designer (the team leader of another business logo design project) for inspection and approval. The selected logo designs are then provided to the client for viewing and they can provide any revision instructions for each of the designs.
The initial concepts sent for this logo design project:
Initial Concept A |
Initial Concept B |
Initial Concept C |
Initial Concept D |
Initial Concept E |
Initial Concept F |
We send the following information to the client with the initial concepts:
An explanation of the colors used in the designs. As we do not use the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color palette but instead the professional Pantone color palette.
The RGB color scheme is used on TV's, computer monitors and home/office printers. The Pantone color scheme is the industry standard and all professional printers use this color scheme as it has greater variety of pre-mixed colors for a consistent corporate look.
We also direct the client to available Fonts from the online library at Adobe (we stock most of the Adobe fonts). Here the client can choose a font which appeals to them.
The client takes as long as they need to review the designs and think of any revisions they feel are necessary. When they are ready to move forward the client will provide us the instructions to carry out.
Client Response
The client replied with the comment:
“We received the 6 images and there are 3 images that there are parts of that we liked. They are listed as follows: design C (3rd image), design E (5th image), and design B (2nd image). There is one particular dove that is not on any of your logo designs that we are very interested in seeing if it can be used. It is called Animal Totem Dove. We would like some alterations to the picture. We would like full wing span and also light rays coming down and illuminating the dove. The light rays could be coming down through blue and purple clouds. We like very much the colors used in the image. Mountains could be optional. In the name we would like Massage to be bigger.”
1st Set of Revisions
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept C1 |
Concept E1 |
Concept B1 |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“Hi, we received your 3 images and would like to see the first image with some changes made.
1. Would like some white added to the clouds to lighted them up.
2. The light rays coming from the clouds should be a yellow gold and illuminating the dove. So if you could highlight the dove with yellow on it's head and the top of it's wings and going down about half way.
3. Make a white snow cap on the mountain.
4. The tail does not look as finished as we would like. Please add some white to the tail and make it look feathery.
5. For the name please make Miller and Massage Therapy closer in size but Miller alittle bigger.
6. We like the soft italisizfed fonts but would like to see
a few size variations in the name and a couple different font suggestions.
We like this image but we may be sending another one in soon with some revisions until we decide on one. Thanks”
Once again the designs are passed back to our design team who implement the client’s request. The length of the design process depends entirely upon the number of revision rounds requested by the client. Each revision round can take up to 3 days for the designs to be sent back to the client.
2nd Set of Revisions
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept C.1a |
Concept C.1b |
Concept C.1c |
Concept C.1d |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“Hi, Thanks for the work on our logo design. There is a small change we would like done. We had the picture printed at a large size to see how it would look and there is one thing that we would like to change a little. With the light rays that are coming from the sky there is a light ray that goes down the back of the peak of the mountain. Could you fill in the bottom left of that ray where it touches the mountain so that the ray would extend all the way down if one were able to see it on the other side of the mountain. Otherwise the rest looks great.
Thanks”

3rd Set of Revisions
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept C.1e |
Concept C.1f |
Concept C.1g |
Concept C.1h |
The client responded to these designs with the following comments:
“Hi, We have chose a logo design that we are ready to move forward with. It is the 3rd one on the last email sent to us.”
After receiving the green light from the client the design team would normally begin to prepare the final pack for the client but as this is a logo and Stationary project, the design team begin preparing the initial stationary concepts.
Initial Stationary Concepts
This can take up to 3 business days but the designs are generally sent out much quicker as the style, color scheme and other design elements have already been determined during the logo design process.
If the client requires the logo pack, we can send these out but for the logo ad stationary packages we send all the files out in the final pack so as to provide easy access for the client when they require them in the future.
Here are the initial stationary concepts:
Initial Stationary Concept A |
Initial Stationary Concept B |
Initial Stationary Concept C |
As with the logo design the client takes as long as they need to review the designs and think of any revisions they feel are necessary. When they are ready to move forward the client will provide us the instructions to carry out.
The client responded with the following information:
“Hi, we received the 3 examples of the stationary design and the one we like the most is the first one with some changes.
1. On the stationary design we would like our address and phone number to be at the top of the page and centred in the middle of the page. Also, above the address we would like it to say XXXX & XXXXXX Miller and then our address and phone number. We would prefer it if the phone symbols were not use.
2. Also, on the stationary design we would like it if the dove that is on the top right of the page could be move to the bottom right of the page and if the phrase "A Touch of Peace" could be put right to the left of the dove on the bottom of the page with the same style of font as Miller in our logo.
3. Also on the stationary we noticed on the 2nd stationary design that there is a large faded image of the logo in the middle of the page that can only be seen from some angles. We would like to see if possible a large image of our logo in the centre of the page and faded so that we could type letters over it but able to see it from all angles. We would like to see one example of this with the changes that we asked for of the first stationery design but on this one remove the 2nd dove.
4. On the business card design we would like to have a space under the name XXXXX Miller and before Massage, Tandem Massage... so that it separates the name from the type of work they do.
5. We would also like the phrase "A Touch of Peace" types to the left of the dove on the bottom in the same style of font as Miller in the logo.
6. With the envelope could you lower the bottom dove to the lower left corner and make it a little smaller. Also to the right of the dove type "A Touch of Peace" in the same style font as Miller in our logo.”
The client’s comments are passed on to the design team and they begin implementing the client’s instructions. We aim to have the revised design/s back with the client in 3 business days.
1st Stationary Design Revisions
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept A1 |
The client responded with the following information:
“Hi, we looked at the stationary and business card design and have just a few changes.
1. First, of the two examples of the stationary design we would like to go with the first one that has the dove at the bottom right of the page but if you could save the 2nd design which has the large image of the dove in the middle of the page we might like to place an order down the road using that one also.
2. For the business card where it lists the different things that I offer (under XXXXX Miller) could it read:
Massage, Tandem Massage, Reiki on the first line and
CranioSacral and Chair Massage on the second line and in that order. The word Reiki was added to the list.
3. Also, on the business card instead of using the symbols for the phone and cell, could you type the words office by the first phone number and cell by the second phone number?
4. We also need to see a proof XXXX Miller's business cards. Half of the order will be for XXXX Miller and the other half for XXXXX Miller. XXXX's information was included on the enrolment form.
5. On the envelope we would like to see the logo a little larger so it is more proportionate with the address.
6. Also, on the envelope we would like it if on the dove toward the bottom left corner if you could make the purple closer next to the dove's wing like on the business card and the stationary design.
Thanks for all your work.”
The client’s comments are passed on to the design team and they begin implementing the client’s instructions.
We aim to have the revised design/s back with the client in 3 business days.
2nd Stationary Design Revisions
This is the design which the design team prepared for the client to view and from here the client will decide if they would like more revisions or if they would like to have the design finalized:
Concept A1.a |
The client responded with the following information:
“Everything looks great. Go ahead and place the order.
Thanks for all you work.”
Final Pack
We normally get the final pack out to the client in a day or so. The final files are sent to the client as a .zip file.
The final pack sent to the client, includes the following file types and formats;
We can also create specific file types for clients if requested and if possible.
At this stage we introduce our client to the wide variety of services available to our customers. These services include (and are not limited to) stationary design, web design, flyers, brochures, postcards and we can even design data sheets and web banners.
We create our designs using Adobe Illustrator the industry standard. If a client would like to edit the logo themselves they would require this software. We are always on hand though to make changes later if required for a small fee.
