This case study will cover the custom logo design process from start to finish for one of our clients : Visual Desires. Pictured below is the logo that we designed for Visual Desires along with the process that went in to producing it.
Client Name: Visual Desires

Final Selection
The Process
The first stage of the process is to complete our online order form. This form is carefully constructed to extract just the right information from the client to lead our design team in a good direction. The form invites you to offer as much instruction as you wish to the design team to aid their creative flair. We offer you to suggest colors, fonts ( from our an extensive range available to us at http://store.adobe.com/type/ ), styles and point us to logos that you like in our portfolio or elsewhere.
This Client ( Visual Desires ) did not offer much in the way of actual design instructions except for stating he would like an emblem-iconic logo. A Vital component of the order form is the company description. Each logo is unique and to create the perfect logo for you we need to understand your business.
Visual desires was a new, expanding retail/wholesale business which is primarily web based. Their trade is importing beads direct and selling them wholesale.
Initial Design Concepts
Your completed order form will be passed on to our design supervisor. The supervisor will then assign your project to a small pool of designers ( minimum 2 ) to review your order form and suggest a creative strategy. We always use a pool of designers to maximize creative input to the project.
The designers will take into account the type of business they are designing for. In this case a retail/wholesale business. The emblem-iconic logo is perfect for this business and needs to be strong, reliable, clear and professional these are key ideals that the design team must adhere to.
The design pool will then create a range of concepts. These concepts will be reviewed by our supervisor who will choose the most promising designs ( minimum 3 ) to send to the client.
At this stage the client can really get involved in the project. Now the client has designs to view it often gives them a clearer vision of the perfect logo for their business.
The client here said that one design in particular stood out to them ( concept 2 ). They stated they liked the choice of font, the idea of the ‘V’ in the middle of the design but would like to see some variations of that. Also the client requested that they would like to see the new concepts in a variety of colors.
What happens if you don’t like any of the designs?
This does not happen often but it does happen. Even on this rare eventuality the initial concepts can prove to have a positive effect. They often give the client a clearer picture about the style of logo they do want. We ask the client to be as suggestive as they can in how to move forward and add some new designers to the pool for fresh ideas and input. Armed with focused direction from the client and fresh design input our end we provide a brand new set of concepts.
First revision round
The design team will review the clients feedback from the initial concepts and begin revising the designs accordingly.
Above are the results of the first revision round. These designs are now passed to the client for viewing to pick a design to finalize or suggest further revisions if necessary.
We offer UNLIMITED free revisions so this process can go back and forth until the design is fine tuned to perfection.
In this case the client felt we were very close. The client liked the ‘V’ in concept 3 and stated the design here is perfect but was not convinced on the colors. The client requested to see the same design in a variety of colors suggesting reds, greens and browns.
Second revision round
By this stage of the design process both the client and the design team will have a strong idea of where the project is going. The second revision round is often used to apply the finishing touches to the logo design. Whether it be tweaking the actual design or in many cases the client may just want to see the already chosen design in a variety of colors and maybe a selection of fonts.
Above are the results of the second revision round. As you see the design had already been picked and the designers simply applied the colors to the logo that had been requested by the client.
The client was happy with concept 1 here saying that was exactly the image they are looking for to represent their business and could we please send the final pack ASAP.
The final pack
Once the client is 100% satisfied with their new corporate logo the design team will prepare and send the final pack. This pack contains your logo in several different file types for a range of purposes.
