This case study will cover the custom logo design process from start to finish for one of our clients : Pinnacle Sales. Pictured below is the logo and stationery that we designed for Pinnacle Sales along with the process that went in to producing it.
The Order Form
The first stage of the process is to complete our online order form. This form is carefully constructed to extract just the right information from the client to lead our design team in a good direction. The form invites you to offer as much instruction as you wish to the design team to aid their creative flair. We offer you to suggest colors, fonts ( from our an extensive range available to us at http://store.adobe.com/type/ ), styles and point us to logos that you like in our portfolio or elsewhere.
The Client
Although there are design specific questions on our order form one of most important parts is where the client has a chance to tell us about their business. We pride ourselves in being able to understand a clients business and produce a great logo for their field. This understanding is only gained through the experience we have had in designing successful corporate logos for all types of
businesses.
Here is some company information lifted from the Pinnacles Sales order form:
Company description : “We represent kitchen cabinet manufacturers in AZ, UT, CO,WY & NM”
Target Audience “Kitchen and bath dealerships, architects, interior designers, home builders and condo developers”
Additional information:”We represent both high-tech contemporary manufacturers and old world antique manufacturers”
Initial Concepts
Your completed order form will be passed on to our design supervisor. The supervisor will then assign your project to a small pool of designers ( minimum 2 ) to review your order form and suggest a creative strategy. We always use a pool of designers to maximize creative input to the project.
Below are the initial concepts that were prepared by our design team:
Client Feedback
At this stage the client can really get involved in the project. Now the client has designs to view it often gives them a clearer vision of the perfect logo for their business.
After viewing these initial concepts the client had this to offer :
We think concept three is the most promising. Change the tall cabinets in the background to condo towers or large houses. Please showcase the logo in a few different color schemes. We have decided to go for a more urban look
What happens if I don't like any of the concepts?
This does not happen often but it does happen. Even on this rare eventuality the initial concepts can prove to have a positive effect. They often give the client a clearer picture about the style of logo they do want. We ask the client to be as suggestive as they can in how to move forward and add some new designers to the pool for fresh ideas and input. Armed with focused direction from the client and fresh design input our end we provide a brand new set of concepts.
